architecture + design
A project for a local family which replaces a 1960s bungalow with a contemporary home and set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The design uses natural, locally sourced materials to sit sensitively within the hillside, while remaining clearly contemporary in character. Carefully composed to respond to its dramatic setting, the house frames and gradually reveals views towards the sea through its internal sequence of spaces.
Following completion of the house in late 2010, Evans Vettori Architects were involved in the design of an external studio space, which replaced a dilapidated garage on the site. The project was carried out whilst Robert was at Evans Vettori Architects, and was awarded an RIBA East Midlands Award for an out of area project, in 2011.
