The transformation of two historic 1860s miner’s cottages on the North Cornish coast into a contemporary five-bedroom family home within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rather than demolish the original buildings, the design sensitively combines and extends them with a modern rear addition positioned higher on the steep site, to maximise views out to the coast line. The scheme integrates old and new through an underground walkway and uses natural, durable materials such as stone, slate, steel, and timber. Landscaping and native planting help embed the house into its surroundings, creating a balance between heritage, modern living, and the coastal landscape.
